Yard Debis Pickup Service - Urgent
To all residents participating in the Debris Pickup Service,
We currently have 47 residents subscribing to the Debris Pickup Service and Waste Industries sent out Invoices this week. Don't pay them. If you've already sent a check cancel the check or call Waste Industries and ask them to return it.
We will be changing vendors as of July 1, 2016. We are in negotiations with another vendor so we don't have all of the details but we will keep you informed.
Thank you,
Huston Huffman
Mayor

Pet Registration
Dear Pet Owner Residents:
This year, animal registration will take place from May 9 – May 31, 2016. The process will be slightly different; Chief Lamparter will emboss the current year and lot number on the tags. Therefore, you will not receive your tag immediately. The tag is optional; simply notate that you do not wish to receive a tag. This tag coding will expedite the process of reuniting missing or lost animals with their rightful owner and will help alleviate a trip to the county animal shelter if it is worn by the pet. It is also advised that you email pet pictures to the Chief at bapd29572@gmail.com, especially if your pet does not wear the tag.
Ordinance #84-4 and Chapter 8 Section 8.110.10 of the Town Code requires that every person owning or having the custody or possession of any dog or cat four (4) months of age or over, within the Town, shall obtain a license from the Town for such dog or cat. This includes any dog or cat dwelling within the resident’s home or managed by any type of yard monitoring system.
Pet forms may be obtained by email, on the Town website, in the Town Office, or in the envelope on the office door labeled “Blank Pet Registration”. Please complete the information below and return it to the Town office by mail, in person, or by leaving it in the envelope on the door labeled “Completed Pet Registration”. Be sure to include a $2.00 payment per pet. Payment may be made by cash or check. (PLEASE USE A LABELED ENVELOPE FOR MONIES AND DO NOT LEAVE CASH ON THE DOOR). You will receive a receipt once your information is processed.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me Monday and Tuesday 1pm-5pm and Wednesday – Friday 9am-1pm at 843.272.8863 or email tofba29572@gmail.com.
Very truly yours,
Jennifer Newbold
Town Clerk
2016 Firewise Event
To all 2016 Fire Wise participants,
Fire Wise 2016 is over and we would like to thank everyone who participated in the event. This is always an excellent opportunity to clean up our lots and to make them more resistant to brush fires. We appreciate the efforts put into the cleanup as well as your cooperation in completing your Recorder Sheets. As many of you know, and for those who are new to the Town, these figures are used in obtaining matching funds from the State Forestry Service.
Under the supervision of John Wylie and assistance of Bob Hock, we tried something new this year. We eliminated the chipper which resulted in a quieter, cleaner, and faster cleanup. It worked very well. The contractor used a “Grabber” mounted on a large bed truck to pick up the piles; they were loaded directly onto the truck or the two large dump trailers accompanying the truck. The total time spent in the cleanup was only 5.5 days. Everything went smoothly.
We had 99 families to participate this year, contributing 1,665 hours. In addition, participants paid outside contractors $22,622 to assist in their clean up. Approximately 53 tons of debris was carried to the landfill.
The Town’s cost to carry the debris away was $9,000 which will be reimbursed by a Forestry Service grant.
Thanks again for helping us make it another successful Fire Wise Event.
Sincerely,
Huston Huffman
Mayor
